Vikings fight hard to beat Sacramento City, advance to State

The DVC Vikings defeated Sacramento City College, 54-50 to advance to the State Championships in southern california next weekend at Ventura College.
The Vikings battled all game long with multiple lead changes, it came down to the last 3 minutes of the game with the score tied at 50. Daisha Abdelkader drove to the basket to put the Vikes up 2.
Vikes went on to get a stop on defense and Zahria Hendrix drove to the hoop and laid it in to put DVC up 4 and that's all she wrote.
Abdelkader led the Vikes with 16 points, 3 steals, 2 assists and 6 rebounds. Leilani Moncrease also came up big for the Vikes on both sides of the ball, scoring 15 points and grabbing 8 rebounds.
Hendrix finished with 11 points and 7 rebounds on the night.
The atmosphere was as big as the stakes at hand, with a packed gym the Vikes finished strong and are headed to the CCCAA Elite 8.
The Vikes will take on SoCal's No. 4 seed, Ventura College on Friday at 5:00pm at Ventura College.
