Football defeats No. 3 American River College, 28-21
The Diablo Valley College Vikings mounted a dramatic second-half comeback to secure a thrilling 28-21 victory over the American River College Beavers at Beaver Stadium.
First Half Recap: The Beavers struck first in the opening quarter with a 2-yard touchdown run from Jett Harris, capping a methodical 15-play, 80-yard drive to go up 7-0. They extended their lead to 14-0 late in the second quarter, with Elias Brown powering in a 1-yard touchdown run. However, DVC responded right before halftime when quarterback Teddy Booras scored on a 1-yard run, narrowing the deficit to 14-6 after a missed extra point by Michael Vaccaro.
Second Half Surge: DVC came out firing in the second half, quickly tying the game. Booras connected with wide receiver David Pierro on a 48-yard touchdown pass, followed by a successful 2-point conversion rush by Jaysn Wade to make it 14-14. Just three minutes later, Booras and Pierro struck again, this time on a 30-yard touchdown pass, giving the Vikings their first lead of the game at 21-14.
American River responded early in the fourth quarter with an electrifying 81-yard touchdown run by Elias Brown to tie the game at 21-21. But the decisive moment came with just over six minutes remaining when DVC's Safir Stills-Bey intercepted a pass and returned it 60 yards for a touchdown, sealing the 28-21 victory for the Vikings.
