Vikings split again with D1 teams in exciting weekend of play

This last weekend offered up very exciting lacrosse!  On Friday night, the Vikings led the Division 1 Simon Fraser University 8-5 at one point early in the third quarter.  "The Clan" came fighting back and in a two minute stretch turned the score from 10-8 Vikings to 12-10 SFU, which was the final score of that contest.  Aside from too many unforced turnovers, the Vikings played with the Clan toe to toe, and one could say even outplayed SFU for most of the game.

On Sunday, the Vikings traveled to San Rafael to take on their fifth D-1 team of the season for a 1:00 p.m. start.  This game started as an offensive slugfest as the score was tied at the end of the first quarter 5-5.  Scoring continued in a rampant manner throughout the game.  With 3.6 seconds left in the game, the Vikings led 19-18.  A penalty on the faceoff gave the Penguins the opportunity for a final shot, which was saved by goalie Aleks Bialek, who slung the ball far to the other end of the stadium to run off the final second.

We just received notice that the Stanford game has been moved from this Wednesday to next Wednesday, October 23 at 7:00 p.m. in Palo Alto, due to a scheduling conflict at the  university.

So, next up:  The Vikings seek to exact vengeance on the Eagles who last year came from behind with under two minutes left to score three goals and defeat the Vikings 10-9.  This game will be Saturday, October 19th with a 7:00 p.m. start time at Viking Field.
