Four Vikings score in double-figures as DVC knocks off Sac City, 71-68.
Diablo Valley narrowly escaped Pleasant Hill with a victory in front of the home crowd on Tuesday night against Sacramento City, 71-68. DVC has won 8 of their last 11 games heading into the heart of the Big 8 Conference schedule.
The Vikes had 4 players score in double figures: Jelani Hardaway led the way with 16 points, including some huge buckets down the stretch that sealed the fate of Sac City. Hardaway's offense included 4 FGs made, going 7-8 at the free-throw line. Spencer Clark contributed 14 points, Rico Nuno provided 13 points, and Olajuwon Garner chipped in with 10 points. Jalen Headspeth also provided this nifty post move in the second half off a feed from Nuno.
As a team, the Vikings made 25 field goals and were 16-24 (75%) at the free throw line.
DVC improves to 3-2 in conference and 11-9 overall, while Sac City drops to 0-5 in conference, 6-12 on the season.
DVC hits the road this Friday night to take on Big 8 Conference rival Santa Rosa Junior College for a 7:30 PM tipoff.
The Vikes will return home next Tuesday to face the Pirates of Modesto Junior College for a 7:30 PM tipoff.
