MBB | Sierra pulls away with 2nd half surge
Sierra created separation with a 13-2 run to start the 2nd half to take a 15 point lead that proved to be insurmountable for the Vikings
Sierra's Antonio Lewis and Isaiah Piniero led the way for the Wolverines with game-high 29 points and 20 points, respectively, as they go on the road and beat Diablo Valley 64-51 to hand them their first conference loss on the season.
The loss against Sierra is the first since December 19th where they lost in the semi-finals of the Modesto Tournament to Fresno City.
The Vikings offense sputtered coming out of halftime, only converting one basket in the first 6 minutes of the 2nd half. Sierra went on a 13-2 run to give themselves a 15 point lead that would prove to be the difference-maker.
Olajuwon Garner led the Vikings with 9 points.
Diablo Valley will hit the road for their next contest as they travel to the state capital to face American River College in a Big 8 Conference matchup on Tuesday, January 13th.
The Vikings return home next Friday night, January 16th to face San Joaquin Delta College.
