Former Salesian basketball star Jermaine Edmonds Jr. is expected to have a significant impact this year as a sophomore with the University of Montana, which lost three starters from last season and has a new head coach.
The guard/forward just transferred to the NCAA Division I program from Diablo Valley College, where he was described as a team player and quick study. He averaged just under 15 points per game.
On the University of Montana Grizzlies website, which announced Thursday that the team's first practice of the season starts Monday, Edmonds was predicted to be an impact player who could compete for a starting job. Also on the website, he is listed as a communications major whose favorite sports figure is Jackie Robinson and whose greatest sports moment thus far was winning the state title with Salesian.
