The DVC Women's Basketball team defeated Sierra College, 81-71 tonight in a huge win for the Vikings. Sierra entered the game ranked No. 1 in the state and stood alone at the top of the Big 8 Conference in 1st place, with a record of 23-0 on the season. DVC sat right below Sierra in sole posession of 2nd place in the Big 8 heading into tonight's match up. The game started out with the Wolverines taking the lead in the 1st quarter. DVC was down by 3 heading into the 2nd quarter but a huge quarter for Jordan Hobson brought the Vikings within 2 going into halftime. Hobson finished with 14 points on the night and came up huge for the Vikes on the boards with 10 rebounds. The second half was all Vikings, ourscoring the Wolverines, 51-39. Doris Jones had 25 of her 32 points in the 2nd half, leading the Vikes to victory. Kendra Jeuitt finished the game with 12 points and 8 rebounds and Antuanisha Wright also finished in double digits scoring with 10 points. Leilani Moncrease came up huge for the Vikings on the boards with 11 total rebounds, 7 of which came on offense. Bri Moore finished with a team high 23 for the Wolverines. The Vikings head to Folsom Lake on Friday to take on the Falcons. Tip off is at 7:30PM.
