
Big Week for Vikings Football Alumni, Drew Anderson and Desmond Nisby
DVC Vikings football alumni, Drew Anderson and Desmond Nisby both tabbed "Player of the Week" honors in their respective conferences.
Drew Anderson East Division Offensive Player of the Week
Drew Anderson threw for a school-record 597 yards and seven touchdowns and added another touchdown on the ground in a 71-68 seven-overtime loss to Western Michigan on Saturday. Anderson’s 597 passing yards were not only a school record, but also the most for a single game in Mid-American Conference history. His seven touchdowns also tied the single-game MAC record. Anderson completed 35-of-61 pass attempts and didn’t throw a single interception. The junior signal-caller had four completions of 53 yards or more in the game and threw touchdown passes of 64, 8, 54, 5, 25, 4 and 27 yards. He also added a 2-yard touchdown run in the sixth overtime to extend the game. Anderson was one of eight quarterbacks named Manning Award Stars of the Week. Anderson was also named one of Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award's "Great 8" performers for week six of the college football season. Since entering the game just before halftime of UB's contest against Florida Atlantic, Anderson has completed 53-of-88 passes for 848 yards, nine touchdowns and only one interception.
Anderson transferred to UB after a very successful career at Diablo Valley College where he threw for 3,459 yards and 33 touchdowns in one season with the Vikings. Prior to DVC, Anderson was named the East Bay Male Athlete of the Year after passing for 4,074 yards and 47 touchdowns his senior season and was also named All-East Bay First Team.

Desmond Nisby BIG XII Newcomer of the Week
Nisby was dominant last Saturday in Tech's 65-19 rout over Kansas, rushing for a career-high 93 yards to go along with four touchdowns on the ground. Nisby found the end zone three times in the first half alone, marking the first time a Red Raider had rushed for three touchdowns in a half since 2009. Nisby's four rushing touchdowns overall were the most for a Red Raider in a game since 2015. Nisby is the only Big 12 player to record four or more touchdowns in a game so far this season. He has found the end zone 6 times in the last 3 games and leads the team with 6 TD’s going into their game with West Virginia next week.
Nisby rushed for 1,250 yards and 12 touchdowns on 285 carries during his two junior college seasons. Nisby played his 2016 sophomore season at Diablo Valley College where he combined for 208 yards and two touchdowns off 19 receptions through the air. He ended the 2016 season with a team-high 642 yards on the ground off 162 carries and found the end zone seven times while averaging 4.0 yards per carry. Nisby ended his career at DVC rated the No. 5 junior college running back in the nation by 247Sports.
