DVC Athletics Update Week of 9/12- 9/16
Women’s Soccer started their Big 8 Conference play Tuesday vs. Cosumnes River College Hawks. The Vikings tied the Hawks 1-1. Big 8 action continued on Friday when DVC hosted San Joaquin Delta College, which also ended in a tie, 0-0. The Vikings are HOME today vs. Santa Rosa Junior College at 3:30 and head to Sacramento on Friday to take on ARC.
Women’s Water Polo headed to the State Capital on Wednesday to take on Sacramento City, beating the panthers 21-3. The Vikings had 10 different players score in the game. This week the Vikings head to Modesto Junior College on Wednesday to take on the Pirates in the pool at 3:30pm. Friday, the Vikings begin the Cabrillo College Tournament in Aptos with their first game vs. Cuesta College at 3:40pm.
Men’s Water Polo went to Stockton last week to compete in the San Joaquin Delta Tournament where they lost to West Valley, 22-10. Game two of the tournament was vs. Delta where they lost 9-5. The Vikings head to Modesto Junior College on Wednesday, action starts at 5pm.
Women’s Volleyball began their Big 8 Conference play with a loss to Folsom Lake College, 25-16, 25-15, 25-18. The Vikings are HOME tomorrow vs. Sierra College, action starts at 6:30pm in the gym.
Men’s Cross Country, currently undefeated in races this year, won the Big 8 Preview Race. The Women’s Cross Country team had two top 20 finishes in the race as well. Men’s and Women’s Cross Country head to the Lou Vasquez Invitational on Thursday this week at the Golden Gate Park Polo Fields.
Football headed down to Visalia to take on the College of the Sequoias in a regional match up Friday. The Vikings were down 27-7 at halftime and rallied back with a 14 point 3rd quarter, but were edged out at the end, losing 40-35. The Vikings are HOME this Friday at 5:30pm vs. Feather River College.
