WBB | Frosh trio leads Vikes to 10th straight victory
Diablo Valley is currently 16-4 overall with a scorching hot 10-game win streak, winning 14 of their last 15, after beating Sac City 79-47.
Coach Ramaundo Vaughn and his Vikings are currently riding a win streak of 10 after limiting Sacramento City to just 47 points in 40 minutes for a 79-47 victory. The win was due in large part by the key contributions of three freshmen: Kayla Taylor, Raeona Ford, and Felicia Clarissa.
Taylor led DVC with 14 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 steals. Raeona Ford showed off the long-distance for a second straight game (as evidenced in this video), hitting 3 three-pointers en route to 12 points on the evening. Clarissa added 10 points.
Diablo Valley was able to force 23 turnovers (6 steals from Julia Alexander, alone) while only committing 8 of their own. This is the second game this season that DVC has had a single-digit turnover output; the first coming in a 78-56 win over Laney College on December 7th (only 6 turnovers). Cherishing and sharing the ball (17 assists on 29 made shots) were big reasons why the Vikings were able to pull out the 32-point landslide over Sacramento City.
The Vikings hit the road Friday night to take on Big 8 Conference rivals, the Santa Rosa Junior College Bearcubs. Action begins at 5:30 PM.
The Vikes return home next Tuesday to face the Pirates of Modesto Junior College for a 5:30 PM tipoff.
