Diablo Valley College Names Petrice Beattie as New Head Coach of Women’s Basketball
Pleasant Hill, Calif. – July 2025 — Diablo Valley College Dean and Director of Athletics Christine Worsley announced today the hiring of Petrice Beattie as the new Head Coach of the DVC Women’s Basketball program.
Beattie, a DVC alumna and current assistant coach with both the men’s and women’s basketball programs, brings a strong background in player development, recruitment, and academic support. Her deep ties to the DVC community and experience at both the collegiate and high school levels made her a standout candidate in the college’s search for a new leader.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Coach Beattie into this new role,” said Worsley. “Petrice is a proven leader with a deep commitment to the success of student-athletes both on and off the court. Her experience, professionalism, and connection to our college will help take our program to the next level.”
In addition to her coaching roles, Beattie also serves as a Program Assistant in the DVC Academic Success Center, where she supports student retention, provides academic advising, and helps student-athletes maintain strong academic standing. She previously served as the Head Women’s Basketball Coach at St. Joseph Notre Dame High School, where she led the program with distinction and a strong emphasis on sportsmanship and academic accountability.
“I’m incredibly honored and excited to lead the Women’s Basketball program at DVC,” said Beattie. “This is a full-circle moment for me—this college helped shape me as a student and athlete, and I’m looking forward to mentoring the next generation of Vikings. I believe in building a program rooted in hard work, accountability, and community, and I can’t wait to get started.”
Beattie holds a B.A. in Computer Information Systems from Stanislaus State University and is currently pursuing her M.S. in Coaching and Exercise Science at Concordia University Irvine. She is also a certified participant in the Athletic Recruitment Workshop and is well-versed in Hudl, Synergy, and other coaching technologies.
