
Track & Field finish 2nd at DVC Preview
DVC Track & Field is set to compete at their home meet on February 21, 2025, featuring top performances across sprints, distance events, hurdles, relays, and field events. With strong competitors in both the men's and women's divisions, the Vikings will look to take advantage of their home track and put up competitive marks against top programs in the 3C2A.
Men's Team Preview
Sprints & Relays:
- Josh Myers (100m, 10.90) and Jordan Odhiambo (100m, 10.96) will aim to push for podium finishes in the short sprints, with Myers coming in as a top contender.
- Demi Kalmon (400m, 49.98) leads the way in the quarter-mile, holding the fastest time in the event.
- The DVC 4x400m relay team of Tramayne Shivers, Aydin Abubakar, Demi Kalmon, and Jordan Maldonado placed second last time out (3:26.30) and will aim to challenge Chabot for the top spot.
Mid-Distance & Distance:
- Alan Solari (1:57.38, 800m) and Harrison Hubbard (1:59.94, 800m) bring a strong one-two punch in the middle-distance races.
- Solari also leads the team in the 1500m with a 4:03.83, making him a favorite for another victory.
Hurdles & Jumps:
- Solomon Gater (15.36, 110H) secured a CCCB mark and will be a key scorer in the hurdles.
- Dominic Mills (1.85m, High Jump) is among the top jumpers in the field, with a chance to contend for first place.
Throws:
- Azriel Shakur (40.90m, Discus) headlines the throws squad and will look to extend his lead.
Women's Team Preview
Sprints & Relays:
- Judah Butler (12.73, 100m) and Rymiyah Pringle-Hamilton (24.99, 200m) are poised to lead the Vikings in the short sprints, with Pringle-Hamilton hitting the CCC A & B standard in the 200m.
- The DVC 4x400m relay team (4:26.46) will look to improve and challenge Chabot for the top spot.
Mid-Distance & Distance:
- Elena Mendez (2:26.49, 800m) and Alana Sevier (2:27.90, 800m) will battle for a top-three finish.
- Medha Gowda (5:09.40, 1500m) is a strong competitor to watch in the longer distances.
Hurdles & Jumps:
- Stephanie Vonjtenyi (1:09.12, 400H) holds a CCC B mark and is the favorite in the event.
- Lillian Thrasher is a multi-event threat, posting top marks in the High Jump (1.60m), Long Jump (5.32m), and Javelin (28.05m), all ranking among the best in the meet.
Throws:
- Mele Petelo (11.60m, Shot Put) is the leader in the event and will look to dominate the field.
