VIKINGS DROP NAILBITER
"Great respect!" said a Sierra Nevada College (SNC) player complimenting DVC as he was leaving Viking Stadium after their 11-10, comeback victory over the Vikings on Saturday night.
The Vikings hosted Sierra Nevada College, a rising Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association D-1 program, and a program that has won several consecutive West Coast Lacrosse League (WCLL) Division-2 titles going undefeated against other WCLL opponents since its inception.
The Vikings came in ready to take on the high flying Eagles. After last year's 19-6 drubbing at the hands of the Eagles, the Vikings approached this game with stone cold seriousness. They either led or were tied throughout the entire game, until the last 11 seconds when SNC scored its third goal within the final one minute to take the lead and game from the Vikings. SNC won the last three face-offs to give themselves the chance to tie and ultimately defeat the Vikings.
The series is now ties 3-3 with SNC, with the Vikings taking the first three contests, and the Eagles winning the last three. Next year will be the rubber match of the seven game series!
Next up: Simon Fraser University on Saturday, October 6th at 7:15 p.m.
