The Diablo Valley College Women's Basketball opened up their 2017-2018 season with a 3rd place finish in the Mission College Tip-Off Tournament in Santa Clara, Ca. The Vikings opened the tournament with a 102-64 win vs. Butte College. The Vikings had four players in double digits, Kendra Jeuitt scored 17 points (8-12 FG) and had 10 rebs, Doris Jones scored 18 points (8-15 FG), had 4 steals and 2 blocks, Antuanisha Wright scored 18 points (6-10 FG), had 4 three-pointers (4-7 3FG) and Jahnay Anderson scored 14 points (6-13 FG & 3-9 3FG).
In the semifinal of the tournament, the Vikings were edged out by the No. 5 team in Southern California, East Los Angeles College, 75-69. The Vikings were down by 3 at half-time but with a slow start in the second half, the vikings were down 56-43 heading into the fourth quarter. A late surge by the Vikings was not enough to finish the game with a W. DVC was led by Kendra Jeuitt with 17 points (7-14 FG) and 15 rebounds; 8 offensive and 7 defensive. The Vikings also had two other players score double-digits, Jordan Hobson who had 17 points with 3 three's and Doris Jones who had 15 points.
Diablo Valley College then took on fellow Big 8 Conference member, Folsom Lake College in the 3rd place game on Sunday. The Vikings defeated Folsom 87-50 to finish 3rd place in the tournament. They were led by Doris Jones who had a season high 23 points (11-17 FG) and Antuanisha Wright who was 6-12 from the floor and 4-6 behind the arc to finish with 16 points. Jahnay Anderson had a break out game for the Vikings with 12 out of her 14 points coming from behind the arc. Finally, Kendra Jeuitt had another big game for the Vikings with 15 points (5-8 FG) and she was 5-5 from the line. Jeuitt was named to the All-Tournament team.
The Vikings will travel to Merced on Thursday to compete in the Merced College Tournament this weekend (11/9-11/11). Current Record: 2-1
