MAKE THAT FOUR IN A ROW
DVC continues its win streak.
DVC quarterback Jadon Brisendine smiled when he was asked of running back Miles Harrison's breakout performance in the Vikings' 42-21 win over San Joaquin Delta Friday night.
"He did, he did," Brisendine of Harrison's monster game as he showed the same explosiveness Clayton Valley Charter High fans knew so well during his proflic career with the Ugly Eagles.
In his biggest game at DVC, Harrison had 133 yards rushing on 13 carries and 74 yards receiving on two catches, with two touchdowns overall.
DVC coach Mike Darr smiled too. Harrison brought the sizzle to what Darr described as the team's best performance of the season, in its fourth straight win heading into the bye week.
"A couple of great runs at key times," Darr said of Harrison, a freshman who did not play last year. "You kind of see the rust shaken off each week."
Of course, Brisendine was exceptional as well, completing 26 of 39 pass attempts for 383 yards and four touchdowns. The Vikings, after a slow start, got rolling about midway in the second quarter. A nicely thrown touchdown pass from Brisendine to Marquese Surrell in the near corner of the end zone put the Vikings ahead to stay 14-7, with Manny Lopez's extra point.
"It took us a while to find a rhythm, but after we found that rhythm we were right into it," Brisendine said. "We were able to get the ball into a lot of guy's hands. Spreading the ball out and creating that diversity was the key tonight."
He found Dylan Alves three times for 91 yards, highlighted by a beautiful 65-yard deep completion. Brisendine completed six passes to Christian Fuca; six to state standout Surrell; and three apiece to Ryan Anderson and Devin Hope.
Anderson and Anatol Sklyar also had TD grabs.
Desmond Nisby ran 17 times for 73 yards, including a 19-yard TD run.
"The run game looked good. The pass game looked good," Darr said. "Jadon has really matured well. .. Real proud of the guys. They played real well."
Brenton Allen led the defense with seven total tackles, and an inspired Ville Valasti powered in for two sacks to go with four tackles. Marcus de la Pena had an interception.
The Vikings, ranked sixth in Northern California, will use to bye week to prepare for their showdown against CCSF to open conference play.
