Bio
Erik Carlson is entering his first season as assistant coach for DVC’s Men’s and Women’s Cross Country teams. 
 
Before coming to DVC, Erik has previously coached at Monte Vista High School where he helped coach the varsity girl’s team to their third straight East Bay Athletic League title in 2024, while also helping their Girls' 4x400m team qualify for the California Track & Field State Championships. He also previously worked as an assistant coach for Archbishop Riordan High School’s cross country team in 2022. 
 
Erik graduated from San Francisco State University in 2023 with a degree in Broadcast Electronic Communication Arts and a minor in Athletic Coaching. He ran all 4 years at State from 2019-2023. During his time there, he earned multiple CSC Academic All-District and CCAA All-Academic honors. He was also named the Golden Gator for the men’s track team in May 2023. 
 
During his time there, he co-created and hosted a radio sports talk show called “Something Sporty," which lasted 3 seasons at KSFS Radio, San Francisco State's student-run radio station, while simultaneously serving as the station's Sports Department Director. He also served as the play-by-play and color commentator for the school's home games throughout his senior year for the CCAA Network.
