Scott Wood named next Head Softball Coach for the Vikings
Christine Worsley, Diablo Valley College Director of Athletics, has announced Scott Wood as the new head coach for the Vikings softball program. With an extensive background in coaching, education, and athletics, Scott Wood brings a wealth of experience and a passion for the game.
As the new head softball coach at Diablo Valley College, Scott Wood aims to foster a strong, competitive, and educational environment for the Vikings. His positivity and strong relationship-building skills will enable him to work collaboratively with administration and staff to provide the best educational experience for our student-athletes.
Scott Wood’s broad teaching and coaching background, which spans over two decades, reflects his dedication to student development both on and off the field. Most recently, Wood is coming to DVC from College Park High School where he served as the head softball coach.
Additionally, he has contributed to the NorCal Choppers Softball Association, Pleasant Hill Baseball Association, and College Park Summer Conditioning Camp. Scott's diverse experience also includes broadcasting, having served as a high school football game broadcaster for Comcast Hometown Network and an arena football game day radio broadcaster. He also played arena football and participated in the Los Angeles Raiders training camp.
Scott Wood holds a Teaching Credential and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from St. Mary's College, Moraga, CA, along with an Associate of Arts from Rancho Santiago Community College, Santa Ana, CA.
