Bio
Coach Vince Bordelon is entering his 37th year of coaching football.
A DVC alum, coach Bordelon played for Coach Ed Hall in 1984 as a Viking offensive lineman and went on to play at Cal State Hayward, earning his Bachelor of Science (BS) and Master of Science (MS) in Physical Education.
Coach Bordelon began his coaching career in 1987 at DVC serving as the defensive line coach. The ’87 Vikings went 10-0 and were subsequently inducted into the DVC Hall of Fame. In his first season, coach Bordelon helped develop All-American defensive lineman Phil Loppsinger, also a member of the DVC Hall of Fame.
After several collegiate coaching stops coach Bordelon returned to DVC as the defensive line coach in 2013 and 2014 under Head Coach, Mike Darr. In those two years, DVC led the state in sacks and saw eight defensive lineman transfer to Division I programs, including future NFL player Kyle Kragen (Broncos and Panthers) and All American, Tui Talia (Oregon).
In 2013, Coach Bordelon was selected to participate in the N.F.L.’s Bill Walsh Minority Internship with the Carolina Panthers under the leadership of Ron Rivera.
After a successful tenure at DVC coach Bordelon was hired as a faculty member at Laney College where he served as a Kinesiology instructor and football coach. Coach Bordelon was the outside linebackers coach for the 2018 State Champions.
Coach Bordelon transitioned to high school football after the COVID-19 pandemic, and in 2021 and 2022 served as the defensive line coach for McClymonds High School for coach Michael Peters, where he won another State Championship before joining coach Collins at City College of San Francisco in 2023.
Over the years, Coach Bordelon has been a big part of changing the lives of young people. Countless numbers of his athletes have received opportunities to play at a four-year school or were assisted by coach Bordelon into their future careers. You can routinely hear him telling his players, “I want you to have your own health insurance, and I want you to be able to take vacations.”
Coach Bordelon has been married to his lovely wife, Roslyn, for 35 years. They have two children and one grandchild.
