Bio
Marcus Blacksher Jr. begins his first season with the Vikings as Offensive Coordinator and Wide Receivers Coach, bringing over eleven years of experience and expertise. His coaching career is marked by significant accomplishments and impactful roles. Born and raised in the Hunters Point community of San Francisco, California, he started as the offensive coordinator at Galileo High School and eventually became the associate head coach. Under his leadership, Galileo won the first high school state championship in San Francisco history in 2017.
Following this success, Blacksher transitioned to Santa Rosa Junior College, where, over three years, he served as the quarterbacks coach, wide receivers coach, and recruiting coordinator. He then moved to Chabot College as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, where he notably coached Damien Moun, an All-State receiver now at Idaho State University. Blacksher continued his coaching journey at City College of San Francisco as the offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach, where he coached Max Rodarte, an All-State wide receiver at the University of Ohio.
In his spare time, he coaches for KT Prep, where he has trained notable players such as Brock Bowers, a first-round draft pick for the Las Vegas Raiders; Austin Jones, a current Washington Commanders running back; Jaden Rashada, a nationally ranked quarterback at the University of Georgia; and Rashid Williams, a nationally ranked wide receiver at the University of Washington, among others.
Over the last three years at the junior college level, Blacksher has guided 12 players to Division 1 scholarships and over 30 players to four-year university scholarships. He is also a dedicated family man, with wife, Nicole, and daughter Marley. Coach Blacksher is an active member of the community, a mentor, and a positive role model for young people. He exemplifies the qualities we aspire for our student-athletes to achieve.
