DVC Athletics will Opt In for Spring II and Limited Athletic Opportunity
Diablo Valley College has made the institutional decision to opt in for the Spring II season. Some of the traditional spring teams have opted in for Limited Athletic Opportunity (LAO). The LAO option allows two scrimmages for all sports other than football, and 15 padded practices as well as three intrasquad scrimmages. Limited Athletic Opportunity is new since the first opt out date in December, which is allowing a number of our teams to compete in a scrimmage format without using a year of eligibility.
Here is the breakdown for the Vikings this spring:

Baseball
Softball

DVC Athletic Director, Christine Worsley, and Sports Medicine Program Manager, Charlie Ramos have been collaborating on a plan to provide a safe environment for student athletes and staff to return to play. The Vikings are partnering with a COVID-19 testing company to complete on-site PCR tests for the student-athletes and staff. In compliance with state and county guidelines, this will allow us to begin practicing and competing against other institutions following the same guidelines.
