Allison Gargalikis of Diablo Valley College turned a record-breaking season into becoming the CCCSIA and CCCAA Female Athlete of the Year. Gargalikis placed as an All-American in nine different events while setting records, and claiming the CCCAA Swim and Dive State Championship, in three individual events and two relays. The Co-Swimmer of the Meet turned in state records in the 50-yard breaststroke, the 100-yard breaststroke and the 50-yard butterfly before joining her teammates to set records in the 200 and 400-yard medley relays. Her individual times also led the nation's community colleges while her time of 1:00.71 in the 100-yard breaststroke set a new pool record for East Los Angeles College's Swim Stadium pool. To go along with her individual and relay titles, Gargalikis' Diablo Valley squad claimed the team championship, edging out Orange Coast College by just 14 points. Her achievements also garnered her CCCSIA/CCCAA Female Athlete of the Month honors for the month of April. Along with her top performances at the State Championships, Gargalikis took first place in the 50-yard fly, the 50-yard breaststroke and the 100-yard breaststroke at the Big 8 Finals, the Big 8 Invitational and in Diablo Valley's meet against Pasadena City College. Gargalikis is a bounce-back from UCLA where, as a freshman in 2012, she established the Bruins third fastest mark ever in the 100 breaststroke.
