Modesto moves to 9-0 after victory vs. the Vikings
The Vikings fell for a third straight game to open up Big 8 conference play, this time by a 2-1 scoreline to the undefeated Pirates of Modesto JC. In a frenetic opening few moments, both teams nearly opened the scoring before Marissa Rouse finally beat DVC keeper Megan Elms with a low drive in the 8th minute. The Vikings wouldn't stay down long, however, as Hannah Harris kept her composure upon controlling a cross from left midfielder Daissy Lozano and beat Modesto keeper Elizabeth Amaya with an angled shot to the far post in the 16th minute.
As the game became more foul-happy and less end-to-end, it would be Rouse again who popped up to bend a left-footed attempt past Elms in minute number 62. Despite a lot of heart and desire from the Green-and-White, the second Rouse goal would stand up as the game-winner.
Coming up, the Vikings take on San Joaquin Delta in Stockton on Friday, before returning home for next Tuesday's matchup with Sacramento City College at Vikings Field.
