Bio

Coach Trisha Quan has been coaching for close to 20 years at all levels; youth club, high school, college club, community college, and in the WWPA Conference. She uses her own experiences as a goalkeeper to contribute as a defensive specialist and concentrates on game strategy and water polo IQ.

A Marin County native, Coach Quan graduated from Terra Linda High School in 1999, where she competed on the inaugural girls’ varsity water polo, soccer and swim teams.  As a sprinter, she helped the TLHS swim team to a league title in 1997. Among the 3 sports, Quan earned 8 varsity letters, earned water polo All-league honors and NCS Distinguished Scholastic Team honors all four years.  Additionally, for water polo, she earned All-section honors as a sophomore, junior and senior.  Quan was also named as the Marin County Athletic League Player of the year for water polo her senior year.

Coach Quan continued her water polo career at the University of California, Davis, playing under Jamey Wright while earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science.  Quan began her coaching career during this time, helping coach Davis Senior High School to 2 section championships in 2002 and 2003.

After UC Davis, Quan’s educational studies led her to Texas Tech University Health Science Center.  Here, she continued her passion for water polo by taking the role of coach-player for the TTU club water polo team.  Quan graduated in 2006 with a Master of Science degree, with honors, in Athletic Training.

Coach Quan remains active in the water polo community playing with the Peacock Masters Water Polo Club who compete annually at the USA Masters Water Polo tournament, as well as, other local and statewide competitions. The Peacock 19+ and 30+ teams both earned Gold in this year’s 2023 tournament.

At Foothill College, Quan helped lead the team to 12 Coast Conference Championships: 12 Northern California Regionals appearances and 2 State Tournament qualifications. Under her guidance, Foothill goalkeepers have transferred to play with programs at University of Hawaii, UCLA, Santa Clara, and Iona.  While field players have gone on to play at programs at Monterey Bay State University, Indiana, UC Davis, Concordia, Oregon, San Jose State and more.

Upon acceptance of the title as head coach, Quan looks to continue the tradition of success that the Diablo Valley College water polo program has built.  Coach Quan believes in the importance of growth at all levels, in sport, academics and life.  She commits to guiding student-athletes through the process of becoming stronger water polo players and better members of the community.  Off the pool deck, Coach Quan can be found spending time with her dog, Luna or in the pool playing herself.
