Folsom Lake College Shows Grit in Competitive Match Against Diablo Valley

Folsom Lake College displayed resilience and skill in their matchup against Diablo Valley College on Friday. Despite an 8-1 final score in favor of DVC, FLC players put up strong performances, pushing several matches to the limit.

In doubles play, FLC's top-seeded pair of Melanie Noriega and Natalia Silva set the tone with an impressive 8-2 victory over Savannah Jose and Ezrielle Llave of DVC. The second doubles match saw a determined effort from FLC's Sophia Dubinets and Livia Young, but they fell 8-2 to My-Tien Nguyen and Masha Dontova of DVC. The third doubles match was awarded to DVC by default.

Singles play featured some of the most thrilling moments of the day. At the No. 1 singles spot, Natalia Silva showcased remarkable endurance and mental toughness, against Savannah Jose of DVC in a grueling three-set match, ultimately falling short 2-6, 7-6(3), 7-5. Melanie Noriega also delivered a solid performance for FLC but ultimately fell to Ezrielle Llave, 6-2, 6-3.

FLC's Sophia Dubinets and Livia Young fought hard in their singles matchups. Dubinets faced a tough opponent in My-Tien Nguyen, falling 6-1, 6-1. Young displayed resilience, pushing Masha Dontova to three sets before narrowly losing 6-3, 4-6, 7-5. Matches at the No. 5 and No. 6 positions were awarded to DVC by default.

While the final score favored Diablo Valley, Folsom Lake College demonstrated strong play and competitive spirit throughout the match. With these performances, FLC looks forward to building on their efforts and coming back stronger in the upcoming matches.
