Women's Water Polo competed in the Big 8 Conference Championship Tournament this past weekend in Stockton where they placed 6th overall. In round one, the Vikings lost to Santa Rosa Junior College, 11-4. All four of the Vikings goals came from four different players; Haley Darr, Haley Grimmer, Micah Baird, and Giselle Castellanos.
The Vikings then took on Sacramento City College to decide who would play for 5th place on Saturday. The Vikings shut out the Panthers, 14-0 and were led by Micah Baird with 4 goals, Giselle Castellanos with 3 goals, and Haley Grimmer with 2 goals.
Diablo Valley lost to Fresno City College in the 5th place game Saturday, 5-3. The Vikings had a slow start and were down 3-0 at the half. The Vikings rallied back in the 2nd half but it wasn't enough to hold off the rams. The Vikings finished 6th in the tournament and finished the season with a 8-14 record.
