Women's Volleyball Recap: Diablo Valley Sweeps Sacramento City 3-0

Diablo Valley College women's volleyball team secured a commanding 3-0 victory over Sacramento City, winning with set scores of 25-20, 25-23, and 25-23. The Vikings showed consistency across all three sets, with standout performances from Katherine Sotirova, who led the team with 14 kills and 3 service aces, and Ela Ismen, who contributed 10 kills with an impressive .345 hitting percentage.

Despite some errors in each set, the Vikings managed to maintain control throughout the match. Setter Nadya Novichkova was pivotal with 30 assists, while Ryann Jones added 8 kills and 2 blocks to bolster the team's defense. The win brought Diablo Valley to a .500 record at 5-5, giving them much-needed momentum in the Big 8 Conference.

 Diablo Valley College faced a tough 3-1 loss against Cosumnes River, with set scores of 25-19, 18-25, 10-25, and 23-25. The Vikings started strong with a solid performance in the first set, where they hit .351 as a team, led by Ela Ismen with 14 kills and Katherine Sotirova with 9 kills.

However, Diablo Valley struggled in the subsequent sets, particularly in the third where they hit -.115 as errors began to mount. Despite a late push in the fourth set, they were unable to rally back. Ryann Jones contributed 12 kills and 3 service aces, while Nadya Novichkova tallied 34 assists. The loss dropped the Vikings to a 5-6 record.

Women's Volleyball Recap: Diablo Valley Loses 5-Set Thriller to Modesto

Diablo Valley College battled hard but ultimately fell to Modesto in a close five-set match, losing 3-2 with set scores of 25-20, 25-19, 19-25, 20-25, and 12-15. The Vikings came out strong, winning the first two sets thanks to solid hitting from Ela Ismen and Katherine Sotirova. Ismen led the team with 14 kills, while Sotirova added 9.

However, Modesto rallied in the third set and carried the momentum into the fourth and fifth sets. Despite a valiant effort from the Vikings, they couldn't close out the match. Ryann Jones and Daniella Walker contributed defensively with key blocks, but Diablo Valley was unable to maintain their early lead, falling to 5-7 on the season.
