Vikings to play for Conference Championship vs. Delta Thursday

The DVC Viking Women's Basketball team, (24-1 overall, 12-1 in conference) will take on Delta College Thursday for a chance to win their 2nd Big 8 Conference Championship in 2 years.

Last year, the Vikings went on the road and defeated Delta College to become Co-Champions of the Big 8 Conference with Sierra College.

This season, the Vikings are currently tied with Delta at the top of the conference, both with 10-1 records. 

The Vikings are looking to extend their 3-game win streak since taking their only loss of the 2018-2019 season to Sierra on 1/29.

Since then, the Vikings have averaged 92 points per game and are on a mission to finish the season just as strong. 

Last week, DVC defeated American River College, 97-61.

In the win, DVC had all 5 starters in double digit scoring with Zahria Hendrix and Leilani Moncrease leading the way with 25 and 23 points respectively.

The duo also combined for 24 of the teams 37 rebounds for the game.

The Vikings then defeated Sacramento City College on Friday, 88-82. 

For the second game in a row, the Vikes had all 5 starters in double-digit scoring. 

Zahria Hendrix and Leilani Moncrease both scored 22 and 23 points, while combining again for 14 of the teams 27 rebounds. 

Jahnay Anderson hit 6 three's from beyond the arch, adding to her season total which is currently leading the nation in every division. 

The Vikings are leading the state in points scored on the season as well as per game. 

The Vikings will take on Delta College on Thursday, Feb 14th at 5:30pm.
