DVC Women's Basketball racks up awards
Doris Jones was named 2018 Big 8 Conference MVP, CCCAA 1st Team All-State, and Northern California Player of the Year. On January 19th. The Vikings defeated Santa Rosa Junior College, 75-61. During the game, Doris Jones became the all-time leading scorer at DVC when she put up 28 against the Bear Cubs, while surpassing 1,000 points scored during her career at DVC, in just 51 games played. Doris was named the Player of the Week for the Big 8 Conference three times; the week of Jan 8 Doris averaged 27 pts, shooting 60% from the floor, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 4.6 steals & 1.6 blocks in 3 games, the week of Jan 22 she averaged 31.5 points per game in two wins (OT win vs Delta & win over Santa Rosa) and finally the week of Feb 5th, Jones scored 32 points,7 rebounds & 7 assists in win vs previously unbeaten Sierra and vs Folsom Lake Jones had 14pts, 7 rebounds, and 8 assists. During the 2016-2017 season, Jones averaged 18.5 points per game, shooting 48% from the floor.
Antuanisha Wright was named to the Big 8 All-Conference Team. Wright is averaging 12.2 points per game, 3.9 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.1 steals per game. Wright had a season high 24 points in a win vs. Delta College, which ended up being the win they needed to take their share of the Big 8 Conference Championship.
Jordan Hobson was named to the Big 8 All-Conference Team. Hobson averaged 13.6 points per game during conference action and 11.5 overall. Hobson also averaged 7.5 rebounds, 1.1 assists, and 1.6 blocks per game. Hobson scored a season high 41 points vs. Folsom Lake College with 9 three's on the night, setting a school record.
Kendra Jeuitt was named to the CCCAA All-State 2nd Team as well as the Big 8 All-Conference Team. Jeuitt is averaging 12.3 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2 assists, 1.9 steals per game this season this season. Jeuitt scored a season high 22 points vs. Mission College on December 8th.
Ramaundo Vaughn was named 2018's Big 8 Conference Head Coach of the Year. Under his reign, the Vikings recorded a 22-4 record and recorded 15 conference wins and finished tied for 1st place with Sierra College. The Vikings were the only team to beat the Wolverines this season, who are the #1 seed in the CCCAA Norcal Bracket. The Vikings are the #6 seed in the CCCAA Norcal Bracket and they will host #11 Lassen College on Saturday (2/24) at 7:00PM at DVC.
