The Diablo Valley College Women's Basketball competed in their 2nd tournament of the 2017-2018 season with a 3rd place finish in the Merced College Coca Cola Classic Tournament in Merced, Ca. The Vikings opened the tournament with a 76-60 win vs. Merritt College. The Vikings had 3 players in double digits; Doris Jones 20 points (9-18 FG), Kendra Jeuitt 17 points (5-6 FG), and Antuanisha Wright 13 points (3-10 FG). The Vikings were up by 8 at halftime and kept the lead the entire second half to finish with the win.
In the semi-final game of the tournament, the Vikings were defeated by Fresno City College (No. 2 in Norcal), 80-68. The Vikings got off to a slow start, giving up 31 points in the 1st quarter and trailed by 20 at the half. DVC outscored the Rams in the second half by 8 but it wasn't enough to finish with the win. The Vikings had 3 players in double digits; Antuanisha Wright 21 points (9-16 FG), Doris Jones 20 points (10-20 FG), and Kendra Jeuitt 13 points (6-13).
The Vikings defeated Cypress College 93-53 in the 3rd place game of the tournament. The Vikings led 44-28 at the half and kept things rolling in the second half, scoring 49 points. The Vikings were on fire, shooting 47% from the floor and 48% from behind the arch. Doris Jones led DVC with 28 points (11-25 FG). Jahnay Anderson set a DVC record high 8 3-pointers and finished the game with 26 total points. Antuanisha Wright was 4-7 from the floor and 3-4 from behind the arch, finishing with 15 points.
The Vikings take on DeAnza College on Friday, 11/17 at home at 6:00pm.
