OAKLAND -- Diablo Valley competed in the Big 8 Trials at Merritt College on Tuesday, April 21st.  The top 8 runners & top 9 field athletes in each event advance to the finals.

EVENT HIGHLIGHTS - Men's

Long Jump

- Nicholas Johnson places 4th overall with a jump of 22'3" 

- Eric Richard places 6th overall with a jump of 22'1"

- Frank Stephens places 7th overall with a jump of 21'10"

High Jump

- Jianni Giusti places 2nd overall with a jump of 6'4" (All-Conference)

110m hurdles

- Roger Blackburn qualifies 2nd overall with a time of 15.21s 

400m Dash

- Nicholas Johnson qualifies 3rd overall with a time of 49.11s

- Jerrick Bernstine qualifies 6th overall with a time of 49.69s

800m 

- Antwuin Prowes qualifies 3rd overall with a time of 1:56.70

400m Hurdles

- Francisco Hurtado qualfies 1st overall with a time of 55.54s

200m Dash

- Nicholas Johnson qualifies 6th overall with a time of 21.94s

400m Dash

- Megan Coppa qualifies 5th overall with a new personal best of 1:00.12, which also ranks 3rd in school history.

800m Dash

- Emma Schoenstein qualifies 7th overall with a season-best time of 2:26.92
