T&F | Vikings Go The Distance in State Capital
There were several Vikings who accomplished personal bests in the high-caliber four-year college invitational held at Sacramento State this past weekend.
In the 800m run, freshman Antwuin Prowes finished 6th overall with a time of 1:51.57. That personal best mark ranks 2nd in Nor Cal and State at this point behind American River's David French who holds the top spot at 1:51.17. It is the 4th fastest time in the history of Diablo Valley College.
Sophomore Austin Frost's Hammer Throw mark of 151' 5" placed him 20th overall in the meet. The mark is good for the 5th longest throw in school history. It is also the 5th best mark in the Big 8 Conference, to this point.
Sophomore Alex Goodman's improved his personal best by 13 seconds in the 3000m Steeplechase with a time of 10:17.79, placing him 11th overall in the meet.
Freshman Damarius Brinson impressed in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.91, which is a personal record for him, ranking him #9 in the Big 8 Conference.
Diablo Valley's 4x400m relay team of Jerrick Bernstine, Prowes, Nicholas Johnson, and Francisco Hurtado improved on a personal best with a time of 3:14.64, remaining as the 3rd fastest time in Nor Cal, 4th fastest time in State.
Katherine Embody ran a personal best in the 1500m run with a time of 5:05.23, first in her respective heat and good for 8th in the Big 8 Conference.
Megan Coppa ran a personal best in the 400m dash with a time of 1:01.43, placing 3rd in her heat, and improving more than 2 seconds from her only other collegiate 400m dash at the De Anza Invitational on March 13th (1:03.48).
