DVC Football Focusing on Schemes and Technique for Friday's Match Up vs. Feather River
September 21, 2017
With a quarter of the season under their belts, the Vikings are heading into an interesting matchup this week against Feather River College. Both the Vikings and Feather River currently hold the same record of 1-2.
With a close game, last week against College of the Sequoias and the Vikings falling short 35-40, head coach Darr was asked what the focus has been this week in the locker room preparing for Feather River. Darr explained, "We have been focused on the details of our technique and our schemes, on both sides of the game we are showing great flashes but we are struggling with being consistent".
Along with techniques and schemes that the team has been working on, there has been adjusting to key player being either out for the season or hurt. Darr went into detail of how many injures the team has had, "There have been 6 knee injuries, 3 shoulder injurers, 2 ankles, a hamstring and a back injurie, it's been rough".
With the Vikings, last week's opponent being defeated by this week's opponent, Feather River, coach Darr explained what he knows about Feather River and his plans in order to be successful against them, "We aren't getting off a 4-hour bus ride this week, we've played them 6 years in a row and they are on their 6th head coach. Each year you're getting a different team. What will be interesting is their offensive coordinator who came from Chabot, we have been playing for years and are more familiar with him".
Darr went on to explain that Feather River is a team of interesting guys, "They are a team that travels very well, they are a team that stays the night when traveling, very athletic, they have many guys from out of state and they have some new wrinkles they are incorporating and they run the ball well".
With a very exciting match up to see whose record will improve, Darr explained what he is most looking forward to on Friday's game, "We are looking forward to this game and another chance to straighten things out it should be a good game".
