QUINCY -- In an impressive debut, Drew Anderson completed five touchdown passes and the Diablo Valley College football team routed host Feather River 45-14 Friday night in the Vikings' season opener.
Anderson, a Miramonte High graduate who redshirted at San Diego State last year, had three touchdown strikes to California graduate CJ Cornwell and one apiece to Marcus Armstrong-Brown, Nick West and Aereon White.
Young defensive backs Marcus de la Pena and Devin Bracy each had interceptions. Freshman safety Kyle Trego had a big night with an interception, fumble recovery and blocked two field goals.
After a 4 ½ hour bus ride, the Vikings seized control early and led 31-0 at halftime and 45-0 with five minutes left in the game. Anderson threw no interceptions in the game.
