Another Viking is selected in the 2016 MLB Draft: Ben Krauth
Ben Krauth was selected in the 16th round by the Cleveland Indians. Krauth played for the Diablo College Vikings for two years, and in his sophomore season in 2014 he was the unanimous choice in the Big 8 for Pitcher of the Year. Adding to his trophy case in ’14 he was the CCCBCA Co-Pitcher of the Year, Rawlings/American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Pacific Association Division Northern California All-Region First-Team pitcher and Rawlings/ABCA Pacific Association Division All-American First-Team pitcher.
In 2014 he started 14 games and finished with a 9-2 record. In 103 2/3 innings he allowed only 6 earned runs for a miniscule 0.52 ERA.
He transfer to play for the Kansas Jayhawks where he made the All-Big 12 Second Team and won the Newcomer of the Year for the Big 12.
