Class of 2013
Gaylord Bryan | Coached 4 sports at ECCJC/DVC, teaching from 1952-1989. Led ECCJC to school’s 1st ever conference title, 1954 Men’s Basketball. Basketball team won 3 straight conf. titles from 1954-56. Also coached Track, Cross-Country & Softball at DVC. Tremendous athlete who was 4-time Nat’l Champion in Triple Jump and won Gold Medal in 1951 at the Pan American Games in Argentina. Previously inducted into Stanford Uni- versity HOF for Track. Leader of ‘Faculty Five’ at DVC for many years.
Veronica Campbell-Zemier | Two-time All-American Water Polo goalie who was the MVP of the Big 8 Conference in 2006. All-American swimmer in 2007 in 7 events, helping DVC win the State Championship. C.O.A. student-athlete scholar award winner in 2007. Scholarship to CSU-Bakersfield where she led all NCAA Division-I water polo goalies in blocks in 2008. Racked up 429 career blocks at CSUB. First team WWPA honors in both 2008 & 2009 at CSU- Bakersfield. Honorable Mention NCAA D-1 selection in 2008.
Peter Faigl | Greatest tennis player in the history of the school. Bay Valley Conference singles champ in 1995. Played at James Madison University where he earned his B.A. in Quantitative Finance and Economics. Posted an im- pressive 31-1 career record in conference matches with an overall record of 53-8. Only player in DVC history to win the Modesto Tournament. Faigl was the #1 ranked player in Nor- Cal & #2 ranked player in the State in ‘95. Becomes 1st tennis player ever inducted into DVC Athletic Hall of Fame.
Gerald Price | All Golden Gate Conference Infielder 1976-77, starting LF on DVC’s 1977 State Championship team. Played on USC’s NCAA Nat’l Championship team in 1978. Two-time 1st round MLB January draft pick. Left-Handed hitter who compiled a career .346 BA at DVC and had only 23 strikeouts in over 350 plate appearances. Selected in 2000 to DVC’s All-Half Century Baseball Team.
Brent Smith | All Golden Gate Conference forward in 1993-1994 and All-Bay Valley Conf. selection in 1994-95. First team All- State and All-American in 1994-1995. Scholarship to Uni- versity of Montana, named Big Sky Conference Newcomer of the Year in 95-96. Played one year professionally in Europe. Earned A.A. degree from DVC and B.A. and MBA degrees from University of Montana.
Anthony Spears | All-Conference Defensive End at DVC 1985- 86, earned JC All-American honors in 1986. Portland State 1987-88 where he set school records for sacks (single season & career) in two years. 1988 Conference Defensive Play- er of the Year and All-American selection. Played in the NFL for the Houston Oilers (1989). Played in the WFL for the London Monarchs (1991) and the Ohio Glory (1992).
